Leadership is pivotal to the success of management. The quality of a school is determined by the ability of the headmaster to manage teachers, students, and the environment professionally, and take actions that motivates teachers to make their teaching effective. The chief editor of New York Times has stated that he has never met any highly achieving school being led by ineffective headmaster, and vice versa. He added that the headmasters determine the success of their schools. This phenomenon is very much inline with the scenario in Indonesia.
